The route described for this ride begins at the Blackwood Hotel and heads north up the Old Blackwood Road, along Nugget Track for some hill climbing and then northwards for a short distance along the Albion Track and then down into Nuggetty Gully for some singletrack along the Nuggetty Creek gully. The trail comprises the lower orange trail that heads north from Blackwood and then the inverted 'U' shown in the lower portion of the pink trail.
This singletrack has been created by motor bikes and is a good ride through the forest and is quite rideable. There are a couple of rock strewn sections which may be a bit hard getting up in the wet due to the slippery clay. For this reason, I'd probably recommend doing the ride in an anticlockwise direction in wet conditions as the eastern single track in the gully is much smoother meaning you can come downhill over the rough rocky portions.
This ride could be combined with the Tyrconnel or Yankee Track rides using these these rides combined with the single track portion as well
When riding on the single track, allow any motor bikes to pass through unhindered. You have the benefit of being able to hear them coming rather than vice versa so show some cooperation on the narrow trails. Having said that, I haven't seen any while I have been on the trails.
The following photo gallery has been taken in order from the Blackwood Hotel heading along the Old Blackwood Road, along Nuggetty Track, Albion Track, single track through forest from west to east and then back down Old Blackwood Road.
Head north from the Blackwood Hotel down Martin Street, cross the Lerderderg River at the bridge and follow Old Blackwood Road for 1.5 kms from the bridge. (Note the bridge was damaged in the 2011 floods but but has now been restored.) At this point you reach the intersection with a large tree in the fork as shown below. Turn left onto Nugget Track.

Head north up Old Blackwood Road from town until you get to tree at fork in road in left photo. Head left onto Nugget Track which is shown in the other two pictures. Trails were just graded in these photos but are typically very rough and cut up to the point you can't get a 2WD car up there readily. |

Follow Nugget Track for about 1.2 km. Nugget Track is shown in the pictures below. At the time of taking the photos, the track had been regraded the week before so is quite smooth. However it is typically deeply rutted over the winter due to 4WD vehicles ripping it up due to the steep slopes up and down. If you have a look at the Yankee Circuit photos, you will see the same track in mid winter. This provides a good hill climb with a large increase in altitude over a short distance.

At the intersection with Albion Track, turn right and head along Albion Track for 450 metres and turn right at the track there (next to the bog hole in winter). Photos below show bog hole on Albion Track and second and third photos show entrance to single trail.

Once back onto Old Blackwood Road turn right and head back to town. There is supposedly a single track straight across from where you enter the Old Blackwood Road which takes you down to the Yankee Mine on Yankee Road and I'll document this in the future though you're welcome to check it out in the meantime.
